ABOUT US
This website was created by the current Iwate Prefectural Advisors (PAs) to supply information about Iwate Prefecture to current Iwate JETs, incoming JET participants, and Iwate JET alumni. We will be slowly updating the website with new information throughout the year. Find our profiles below and hit us up if you want to know anything about being a JET in Iwate!
KIEL
ALT Prefectural Advisor
Philippines, JET 2023
Kumusta?

I'm Kiel, and I work as the ALT PA for the Iwate Prefectural Board of Education.

If you're an incoming JET, I'll be one of the first people to welcome you in Morioka for orientation. Throughout the year, you'll also see me at various events. I organize the Skills Development Conferences and the prefecture-wide English workshops, and I support debate events and other prefectural activities.

Outside of work, I enjoy trying out new restaurants, watching movies, and spending time in nature. I might not be the most talkative person you'll meet, but I'm always happy to connect and help out.

LIAM
CIR Prefectural Advisor
USA, JET 2024
What's up?

I came to Iwate in August 2024, and I'm now going into my second year here! I work at the Office of International Affairs, taking on a variety of different tasks such as translation, interpretation, international exchange events, running the prefectural social media, and becoming Santa for a couple days in December.
I love good food and traveling, so if you have any recommendations, please let me know! I'm excited to welcome you all to Iwate, and all of us PAs are here to support you along your JET journey. If you're coming to Iwate this summer, I'll see you at orientation!
ANNA
CIR Prefectural Advisor
UK, JET 2025
Hey, you alright?
I’m Anna! I joined JET from the UK in August 2025 as Liam’s second-in-command at the Office of International Affairs. My work mainly involves translation, interpreting for the prefectural government, writing for the official social media and the occasional school visit.
In my free time, I like watching movies, reading and playing video games. I’m here with the other PAs to answer any questions you might have during your time in Iwate, so if there’s anything we can do to help you, don’t hesitate to reach out! See you around!
